The pleura is like a ship consists of a rectangular sheet cells called mesothelial cells, and usually not several layers thick. There are two in pleuras chest, the parietal pleura lines the inside of the chest wall like wallpaper, not only within sides, but the diaphragm (the muscle between the chest and abdominal cavity, which moves with respiration) and pericardium. The parietal pleura is not normal more than 2 to 3 mm, when the normal gut pleura is fused to the lungs and is approximately thickness 1 mm. The visceral pleura is a separate pleural covering lung is much more difficult to remove without negative effects on the lungs. The pleural fluid filter and back from the chest to operate under normal conditions man, but is off when ill. As The pleura is sick, is not as effective in remove fluid from the chest, and fluid accumulation (Pleural effusion) may occur.
