Mesothelioma is divided into three basic types, based on that the cancer appears under a microscope. The most common type is epithelioid. About 50% to 70% of mesothelioma are of this type. Usually has the best prognosis and vision of the three. The The second type is called sarcomatoid, which represents about 7% to 20% of mesothelioma. It has a large unpredictable pattern or nature. The latter type, called mixed or biphasic, is a combination of the first two types and represents approximately 20% to 35% of mesothelioma.
